GeoFootballer is a free daily sports geography game about football (soccer). Every day you get five football moments, such as a last-minute winner, a legendary stadium or the birthplace of a World Cup winner, and you drop a pin on the map where it happened. The closer your pin, the more points you score. One round takes about a minute and a half, and you can play it in the browser without an account.
What is a sports geography game?
A sports geography game combines two things fans love: sports knowledge and maps. Instead of choosing from multiple-choice answers, you read a clue about a sporting moment and tap the place on a map where it happened. Points depend on distance, so a near miss still counts.
The format became popular in 2026 with GeoSports, a daily game covering several US leagues and sports. GeoFootballer applies the same idea to one sport only: football, from World Cup finals to club history across Europe and the rest of the world.
How GeoFootballer works
- Read the clue. Each question describes a football moment. Year, opponent and competition usually narrow down the location.
- Drop your pin. The map starts over the right country or region, but it only shows countries, borders and big rivers, with no city names. Tap where you think it happened, then lock it in.
- See how close you got. You get the right spot, the distance, your points, the story behind it and the source.
Each question is worth up to 100 points. The last questions count for more: questions 3, 4 and 5 are multiplied by 2, 3 and 3, so the daily maximum is 1,000 points and a slow start can still be turned around. A new round starts at midnight German time (11pm in the UK), and everyone gets the same five questions, so you can compare scores with friends straight away.
When you share your result, each question shows up as a colour, for example 🟢🟢🟡🔴⚫️, so you never give away the answers.
More ways to play
- Timed round: five different questions every day, 30 seconds each, with a speed bonus. Free.
- Play together: a free mode for two, and groups to compare scores with your mates.
- Streaks and daily tasks: three challenges a day and badges for playing several days in a row.
- Pro (optional): unlimited play in every category, your own rounds with 5, 10 or 20 questions, questions from the decades you pick, the archive of past matchdays, personal stats and more groups. Pro is a weekly or monthly subscription; in the UK it starts at £0.99 a week. The daily round stays free.
No ads, no gambling. Just football.

Which one should you play? If you follow American sports, GeoSports is the original and covers the most leagues. If you want football only, GeoFootballer and GeoFooty both offer a daily soccer version; GeoFootballer adds a timed round, groups and questions that go deep into European club history. StadiumguessR is a short daily stadium challenge.
Disclosure: GeoFootballer is our own game. Information about the other games was checked on their own websites in October 2026 and may change.
